●  Oral Storyteller – Author – Story Consultant

“Open your heart & listen. I promise I will go in there and stay forever.”

Hi! My name is Rituparna Ghosh.

I tell stories. On stage, on the page, and in the space between.

My story work moves across multiple languages, from picture books for children to oral storytelling for rooms full of strangers who carry the story dust with them.

Let Them Be [Picture Book Series]

What happens when you rebel?

Mumma Hippo stood next to her Baby reminding her one last time!

“Darling! Step out when I tell you. Or you will catch a cold, ATCHCHOO!”

Trouble begins when Baby Hippo refused to step out of water for days!

Could you dare to dream?

Zee is a Chimp who dreams of being everything except a Chimpanzee!

Can you really grow up to be anything else if you are born a Chimpanzee? Follow Zee to find out!

Why blend & fit in?

Being a spotless giraffe has its own troubles!

How do you hide a Giraffe that the world wants to see?

Maybe you are born to be ‘Outstanding’?

Where are the world’s answers?

Reed is the most curious deer you will find. “WHO – WHY – WHAT – WHERE – WHEN – HOW? “

He has questions of all kinds. The problem is no one has the answers! So how do you handle a curious child? This ‘story’ has the clue!

“I have a monster inside me. It tickles me to tell stories to you.”

For the longest time, I have introduced myself to children with this. I didn’t have words to explain the compulsive urge to tell stories to people. This was the simplest story to tell. A monster, a story and some tickles are enough to get children’s attention. Actually, anyone’s attention.

I have been telling stories for more than 20 years. First as a broadcast journalist and television producer, then as an oral storyteller, trainer, consultant and coach at Your Story Bag.

The stories I tell are rooted in a core belief that a story is a safe space where everyone is welcome. Within the words of a story, a listener finds themselves, navigating a territory that is familiar or unfamiliar, exploring a version of themselves that they have seen or yet to meet.

The monster inside me has taken me to classrooms, literature festivals, libraries, bookstores, organizations and non-profits across India.

Now, it’s compelling me to write.

Stories I tell

Twenty years in, the storied way has taken me to many places.

My listeners inspire my stories. I love spending time with story lovers — sharing stories, creating with them, and following where a story wants to take us.

I tell stories in three languages – English, Hindi & Bengali. My story work takes me to schools across K-12, through shows, programs, and workshops.

I specialise in bringing stories into the classroom. My program, Spark Classrooms, helps teachers use story pedagogy across K-8.

In a growing tech-enabled world, I also work with parents — exploring storytelling as a hands-on parenting tool.

I thrive on live interactions. I love performing at community events, literary festivals, libraries, and anywhere people gather around a story.

For school audiences, I’m open to author visits — in person and virtually.

My audience loves my stories!

For over a decade, I have performed LIVE before audiences in India. My stories have taken me to classrooms, literature festivals, libraries, bookstores & community spaces.

Here’s what a few of them think.

An artist & a creative spirit

Five-star rating

I first watched Ritu perform at the Children’s Literature Festival, Bookaroo. It was her first performance at Bookaroo, a festival I had been associated with for some years then. In subsequent years, as Ritu continued to scale new heights as a storyteller, I was struck by her commitment to promoting Storytelling, beyond her personal arena. Be it as a founding member of the ‘Delhi Storytellers’ Network'(DSN) or the ‘Delhi Storytellers’ Tribe'(DST), she was dedicated to the promotion of Storytelling as an art form. I was very impressed to see her teach a college level course as well as create a school level curriculum on Storytelling. Apart from conducting courses for budding Storytellers, her continuous effort to nurture and encourage them is most admirable. She is an engaging and talented storyteller who takes her craft seriously. I admire her dedication to telling, writing and spreading Stories.

“This was our first story time, but we will absolutely be back again. Ritu was amazing. My daughter is disabled, but Ritu made sure to include her in the activities and the story. Thank you so much for offering the event..”
